the ica

My friend was visiting for a few days so we took a trip to the ICA yesterday (it's free on Thursday night!) to check out the Shepherd Fairey exhibit and take some photos of Diller Scofidio + Renfro's first built work. The exhibit was really awesome. They had a large collection of his work, including some of the stencils and silk screens he used to make his stuff. There's also some large pieces that he made just for the ICA.

And, even though I think there's some funky stuff going on with the exterior of this building (especially all the mechanical stuff on the roof...awful), I do appreciate the building and think there are a lot of nice interior spaces. Sadly I couldn't take any photos of Fairey's work, but here's some pictures of the building. You can see Fairey's iconic image on the unsightly mechanical equipment at least.
